Born in 1953 in Saurashtra he holds a Govt. Diploma in Painting (1978) and Applied Art (1975) from Ahmedabad.

He has won several Awards such as NATIONAL AWARD, Lalit Kala Akademi, New Delhi (2011), The Art Society of India award, Mumbai (2011), Gujarat State Lalit Kala Academy award (1973, 1999, 2002, 2003, 2006, 2007 & 2010), AIFACS award (2003 & 2007), Selected prize, International Biennial Print & Drawing, Taiwan (2006), South Central Zone Cultural Centre, Nagpur (2004 & 2005), Bombay Art Society Award (2003 & 2004), Camlin Art Foundation award, Mumbai (2000) and more.

He is also the recipient of Senior Fellowship in visual art (painting), Ministry of Culture, Government of India (2006-2008). He has exhibited extensively in India and abroad and participated in numerous National and International workshops, Art Camps and Projects. He had many solo shows in Ahmedabad, Mumbai, New Delhi, USA and more than 45 group shows to his credit. His work has also been selected at 13th Asian Art Biennial, Dhaka (2008), International Print Biennial, Taiwan (2006), Salon D' Autumn, Paris (2004), Egyptian International Print Triennial (1999 & 2003) and more. He lives and works in Ahmedabad (India)
